Our Defence packing department is temperature controlled, and has full cleaning, drying and preservation facilities. Here we undertake a 5 year shelf life packing process from a tiny O ring up to the long term packing and inhibition of an engine, or a generator rotor with the facility to resistance test the unit from outside of the hermetically sealed barrier and packing case. Virtually all MOD work is identified with Bar Code labels and these are produced inhouse. The exacting standards set and expected by the Ministry of Defence and backed up by our fully experienced inspection team. Our DR/14 Package design accreditation demonstrates our proven ability to prepare package designs for everything from a complex electronic weapons system to a hydraulic seal.
We design and manufacture, both for ourselves and outside supply, cases, crates and pallets in timber, plywood and OSB. We supply cases with fitted steelwork for strengthening and lifting purposes. We also manufacture combination cases in timber and heavy duty fibreboard. All of these are available in any quantity with short lead times. At Good Packing Company we are particularly aware of environmental issues and take great care to ensure that timber is only obtained from properly managed sustainable resources.
With considerable pressure on companies to carry less and less stock, we have over the last few years successfully operated a just in time delivery service for packing materials. From standard material supplies such as tapes or polyethylene, to specific size cartons and special to contents containers with specially fabricated fittings. The advantage for the customer is not only of releasing capital from being tied up in stock, but also releases dead space that can be turned to valuable production use.
